I Never Wanted To Be An Entrepreneur

Blog

I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. I liked the idea of entrepreneurship but I never wanted to be in the “driver’s seat.” I always saw myself in the supporting roll – the right-hand girl or the wife of an entrepreneur. I much prefer to advise, encourage, and support. I’ve never been one to draw attention to myself.

But sometimes life happens. Circumstances change.

I enjoy teaching. I do. But I would much prefer to have my own business and work from home. A home business would afford me the flexibility I want to continue to prioritize Momhood.

In saying I want to “prioritize Momhood,” I am in no way implying that women who choose career do not prioritize motherhood. I’m not knocking women who choose to work. I am so grateful for women who have chosen career and balanced home. I have personally been blessed by many of these dedicated women. I admire these wonderful women a great deal. But it is a challenging road to walk.

And I never desired a career. Yes, I always desired to make an impact in the world, but I envisioned that influence as little ways in my own little circle. My desire was to spend as much time with my children while they grow as I can.

That is still my desire, and in order for me to do that in the way I desire, I am learning how to run a home business.

So I am a Reluctant Entrepreneur.
