Self-care vs. Self’-compassion
Is there a difference?
How I see it:
Self care is taking time for yourself and seeing to your own needs.
Filling your cup so that you are giving from the excess of your full cup and are never depleted.
Self care is important and giving yourself permission for self-care and it is vital.
But Self-compassion is a little different.
And perhaps even more vital.
Self-Compassion is giving yourself grace when you fall.
It’s honors your own feelings whether good or bad.
Self-compassion is forgiving yourself; loving yourself.
More and more people are stressing the need to take the time for self-care for your physical and emotional health.
However, from what I see, Self-compassion is even more neglected than self-care.
Have you ever beaten up yourself so severely that if that abuse was coming from another source, you’d be getting a restraining order?
