WHERE Do You Feel Your Emotions?

Blog, Living in Joy

Have you ever paid attention to where in your body you might physically feel an emotion?

Think about when you are excited or nervous…How does your body react?

Heart beats faster, palms get sweaty, etc. What about when you are scared? or embarrassed?

Do you feel it somewhere in your body?

We often don’t realize it, but our bodies do physically react to emotions.

I have noticed that when I am feeling under pressure, it tends to show up in my shoulders and back. When I am feeling light and cheerful, I feel it in my heart.

When I am feeling unheard, my throat actually feels pressure.

By paying attention to the physical reactions of my body, I am actually better able to identify an emotion.

This is helpful when it is more of a fleeting emotion…….. you know, when you know something is off but its not pressing enough to to stop my busy day to address it.

Once I started paying attention to the little feelings, I was able to catch them early on.

If it was an emotion I want more of, I can sit in it. Breathe in it. Expand it.

If it is an emotion I don’t want more of I can see what is happening and use one of my tools to work through it.

Where in your body do you feel…..

cherished?

..ignored?

..peaceful?

..defensive?

..excited?
